For whom it may concern:

Mr. Dennis Carter and his dog, Muffy, are performing truly amazing philanthropic deeds in the community of Abbotsford.

For the past seven years, Dennis & Muffy have been collecting refundable recycling and donating the proceeds to the Abbotsford School District #34 Meals Program. His warm and generous heart leads him to be concerned about hungry school age children in our community and how he could make a difference. Dennis' scooter is seen about town with up to five large bags of refundable recycling - his gorgeous grin expresses all that comes from his heart. His ability to assist others in their basic need of food is truly amazing and he now has an army of people, businesses and organizations collecting for him and the Meal Program.

In addition to collecting recyclables on a regular basis, Dennis and his wife, Marie, have established an endowment fund with the Abbotsford Community Foundation - the Dennis Carter & Muffy, Feed the Children Fund. The capital donations of this endowment fund are pooled with the Foundation's investment portfolio, which is just shy of $7M. In 2007, the first annual payment of interest earned was disbursed to the Abbotsford School District, specifically supporting the District's Meal Program. However, in the meantime, Dennis has consistently delivered donation cheques to the District assisting the feeding of the community's children today.

What a vision Mr. Carter holds - attending to today's needs and leaving his legacy for the hungry children of the future. As of December 2008, Mr. & Mrs. Carter have donated and received matching for an endowment fund total of $20,000.

You can add to Mr. Carter's efforts by making a donation to the Abbotsford Community Foundation - Feed the Children Fund. Donations of $20.00 or more will receive an income tax receipt.
