$143,480 in Smart and Caring Community Grants and Housing Grants Awarded to Local Charities
We’re pleased to confirm the recipients of the 2021 Smart and Caring Community Grants and 2021 Housing Grants. A total of $143,480 was awarded in support of twenty programs administered by local charities that address children and families at risk in our community.
“We are pleased to have distributed more than $700,000 in grants since 2014 to support our charity partners,” said, Andrea Senft, our Board Chair. “ACF is honoured to fund these programs that help some of our most vulnerable citizens. The Smart & Caring Community Grants program demonstrates our commitment to give where we live.”
Applications are reviewed by the Community Grants committee, which is comprised of local individuals who share a passion for serving the community of Abbotsford. Denise Thandi, Chair, Community Grants committee commented; “With a record number of applications received, the committee had a difficult task. There were many worthy applicants.” On May 20, 2021 we welcomed recipients spread out throughout the day to accept their grant funding and provide an overview of their program impact.
Funds are raised for the Smart & Caring Community grants program in a variety of ways, including the annual Smart & Caring Golf Classic, being held on September 16, 2021. The tournament is already sold out, but the public is encouraged to click here or contact us directly for other ways to support.
“If you missed your chance to register for our tournament, you can still participate and help us raise funds” says Wendy Neufeld, our Executive Director. “We have some exciting opportunities this year and you don’t have to be a golfer to be involved.”
“Our generous donors enable us to grow our Smart & Caring fund, which will continue to benefit charitable organizations in our community now, and forever,” says Senft.
