Celebrating 100 Years of Abbotsford News

25 April 2023News & Announcements

Congratulations to Abbotsford News on their 100th year anniversary of telling stories in our community!

Initially started in 1906 by John A. Bates, the first iteration of what we now affectionately known as ‘Abby News’ was titled the Abbotsford Post. From there, the paper would go on to change hands and names, multiple times over the last century. The Abbotsford News, as it’s known today, has been part of Black Press Media since 1997.

We’re so grateful to Abbotsford News for their many years of support for the Foundation’s work. We may be a youngster compared to the paper (only being 43 yrs old at this time 🙂 but we’ve been strong partners in helping make Abbotsford a stronger, more connected and caring community. Always willing to lend a hand, the Paper has sponsored numerous Foundation initiatives like our Vital Signs reports, our Smart & Caring Golf Classic, and our Abbotsford Disaster Relief Fund, as well as highlighting our work in so many articles (over 100 at last count).

Here a just a few examples of their efforts in sharing our work with the community of Abbotsford:

Happy Anniversary to the entire team at ‘Abby News’ and thank you for all you’ve done and continue to do for Abbotsford.
