We’re pleased to announce the results from our 5th Annual Smart and Caring Golf Classic, held September 17th at Chilliwack Golf Club, where a net total of $70,000 was raised for Abbotsford charities through our Smart and Caring Community Fund.
Income from the Smart and Caring Community Fund provides grants annually to a wide range of local charities that support children and families at risk in our community. “We are proud to have raised over $300,000 in the last five years with our Smart and Caring Golf Classic,” says Andrea Senft, our Board Chair. “The tremendous success of this year’s event is even more amazing given the constraints we are facing as a result of the current pandemic. We could not have achieved such outstanding results without the hard work and dedication of our Fund Development committee, led by Chair, Judy Redekop and the hard working ACF staff”.

Our Executive Director, Wendy Neufeld added, “the 2020 Smart and Caring Golf Classic is an excellent representation of what can be achieved when we work together towards a common goal. In the midst of adversity, our donors, sponsors and participants rose to the occasion and together we raised $70,000 which will benefit local charities. This was the most successful golf tournament in the Abbotsford Community Foundation’s 41-year history”.

The annual Smart and Caring Golf Classic is held each year on the 3rd Thursday of September, raising funds that are permanently added to the capital of the Smart and Caring Community Fund. Save the date for next year’s event: Thursday, September 16, 2021.
