Sustainable Funding for Charities

Let’s talk about your plans for long term sustainability and core funding. Don’t have a planned giving or major gifts program yet? That’s what our Sustainability Through Endowment Program is for!

Or, have you received a gift that’s not cash and don’t know how to accept it? We can support you in accepting non cash gifts that have a monetary value – such as land, securities, jewelry, boats, cars, and other types of property. You don’t have to try and figure this out on your own.

Perhaps, you would like to set up your own endowment fund – an investment account for our community, where a charitable organization can set up their long term sustainable core funding through planned giving and major gifts. Once your fund reaches $10,000, you receive annual unrestricted grants to put towards what is most needed in your organization. Maybe it’s to cover rent increases, insurance, wages for administration staff or anything that is required for your organization. No need to report on, or apply for, these grants that are used to benefit your organization exclusively.

Gifts of Cash

As a charitable organization, you can direct cash gifts or your donors to make charitable gifts, directly to your charitable fund. We take care of the tax receipting and cover any payment processing costs such as credit card processing fees. We don’t charge you any administration fees on the donations received to your fund. Instead, we charge a 1.5% administration fee on your fund’s earnings when we disburse your annual grant. This fee is reinvested into our community by supporting ACF’s work.

Gifts of Public Securities

Are your donors wanting to make gifts of stocks or bonds to avoid capital gains taxes? We can accept those donations to your fund, cover the brokerage fees, and take care of the tax receipting for you. Any brokerage fees (which are minimal given the volume of such donations we manage) are taken from the gift while your donor receives the full value as a charitable tax receipt for their donation. We don’t charge any administration fees on these donations received to your fund. Instead, we charge a 1.5% administration fee on your fund’s earnings when we disburse your annual grant. This fee is reinvested into our community by supporting ACF’s work.

Life Insurance Policies

Are your donors wanting to make gifts of life insurance policies? We can accept these policies when the beneficiary is listed as ACF with your fund specifically designated. We manage the gift and receipt your donor annually for all premiums paid. We don’t charge any administration fees on this type of donation. Instead, we charge a 1.5% administration fee on your fund’s earnings when we disburse your annual grant. This fee is reinvested into our community by supporting ACF’s work.

Gifts in Will

Are your donors wanting to make a bequest and leave a lasting legacy to your organization? Perhaps, they’re an annual donor and want to ensure that their annual gift is made in perpetuity? We can accept these bequests to your fund, as well. We manage the gift and receipt your donor’s estate as required. We don’t charge any administration fees on this type of donation. Instead, we charge a 1.5% administration fee on your fund’s earnings when we disburse your annual grant. This fee is reinvested into our community by supporting ACF’s work.

Other Types of Gifts

Are your donors to make your organization the beneficiary of an RRSP, RRIF, or TFSA? Perhaps, they wish to make a gift of land or other type of property. We can accept these gifts to your fund, as well. We manage the gift and receipt your donor as appropriate. We don’t charge any administration fees on this type of donation. Instead, we charge a 1.5% administration fee on your fund’s earnings when we disburse your annual grant. This fee is reinvested into our community by supporting ACF’s work.
