Ways To Give

All gifts, no matter the size, go to work in our community. We appreciate your generosity! There are many ways that we can facilitate your gifting.

Donate Online Now

Complete the secure online donation form for an immediate gift by credit card. Our newest funds along with our community based impact funds are listed on the first page. However, if you have a specific fund in mind, you can use the search bar at the top to search by keyword. To complete a cash gift or a gift by cheque, please contact us directly or mail a postmarked cheque payable to the Abbotsford Community Foundation.

APPRECIATED SECURITIES

Donate appreciated securities which will reduce capital gains to zero and result in a charitable donation receipt which will offset taxes on other income.

Several corporate donors to the Abbotsford Disaster Relief Fund used this method to provide substantial gifts to the ACF by donating securities they had invested in. The ACF is equipped to handle these kinds of donations and you can find the link here to complete the documentation required to facilitate this type of gift.

GIFTS OF REAL PROPERTY

Donate your home or other real estate. You can also donate your house, receive a tax credit, and continue living in your house for as long as you want.

WEALTH REPLACEMENT POLICY

Make a lifetime gift to the Abbotsford Community Foundation and receive a receipt for income tax purposes now and take out an insurance policy to benefit the estate for that amount.

IN MEMORIAM AND TRIBUTE GIFTS

Donate in memory of a loved one who has passed away or in honour of a loved one on their birthday or special occasion. Contact our office for more information at 604-850-3755.

George Frederick Ferguson, the longest serving Mayor of Abbotsford, passed away in 2017.  His widow, Ria established this memorial fund in his name as a lasting legacy for his contributions to our community.  The George Frederick Ferguson Legacy Fund supports charities that help people who are homeless and is a lasting legacy for Mayor Ferguson who worked diligently to address this issue.

A GIFT IN YOUR WILL

Designate a gift or portion of your estate to your community foundation. Learn more.

Freda Calder did not live an opulent lifestyle. She had some investments and owned some real estate. She and her partner Piergiorgio Giacchini had no children and she passed away three weeks after he did in 2010. Freda was a long time resident of Abbotsford and believed in the importance of education. Most of her estate was left to the ACF as a gift in her will to establish a fund that annually provides $1500 bursaries to help Abbotsford high school students in financial need pay for their first year at university.

LIFE INSURANCE POLICY

Designate the Abbotsford Community Foundation as the beneficiary of the proceeds from your life insurance, resulting in  your estate receiving a tax receipt for the policy value.

For more information, refer to Charitable Donations of Life Insurance Guidelines for Canadian Donors produced by the Canadian Association of Gift Planners.

Thirty years ago, Richard and Helen Randle gave their joint life insurance policy to the ACF and made the ACF the owner and beneficiary.  Each year, they paid the premiums and received a tax receipt as a donation to the ACF.  Richard passed before Helen and when Helen passed in 2020, the ACF received the proceeds of their policy to establish a fund in their name that benefits charities in Abbotsford every year with a grant.  They wanted to help people in their community as a way to give back to a community that had been so good to them.

RRSP AND RIFF

Designate the Abbotsford Community Foundation as your beneficiary for your RRSP or RIFF accounts.

TRANSFER OF A PRIVATE FOUNDATION

Transfer a private foundation or Charitable Trust to the Abbotsford Community Foundation while retaining its identity and purpose.

The Abbotsford Heat Foundation (AHF)  transferred their assets to the ACF when the Heat hockey team moved from Abbotsford to another city.  The ACF has continued the intention of establishing the AHF by providing grants each year to charities that champion projects improving health, education and fitness for local children under 17.

Please see our Giving Guide for complete information on what we do, why we do it and how you can get involved in a way that supports your values and wishes for our community.
