We’re pleased to confirm the recipients of the 2022 Smart and Caring Community Grants. A total of $160,000 was awarded in support of eighteen programs administered by local charities that address children and families at risk in our community.
“We are pleased to have distributed almost $1M in grants since 2014 to support our charity partners,” said, Marcus Janzen, our Board Chair. “ACF is honoured to fund these programs that help some of our most vulnerable citizens. The Smart & Caring Community Grants program demonstrates our commitment to give where we live.”
Applications are reviewed by the Community Grants committee, which is comprised of local individuals who share a passion for serving the community of Abbotsford. Denise Thandi, committee Chair and member of our Board of Directors commented; “With another record number of applications received, the committee had a difficult task. There were many worthy applicants.” On May 11th, we welcomed all recipients to accept their grant funding and provide an overview of their program impact to the other charities that were also successful in receiving funding.
Funds are raised for the Smart & Caring Community grants program in a variety of ways, including the annual Smart & Caring Golf Classic, with the 7th annual event being held on September 15, 2022. The tournament is already sold out, but we encourage you to visit our golf classic webpage or contact us directly for other ways to support.
“If you missed your chance to register for our tournament, you can contact our office and add your name to a waiting list” says Wendy Neufeld, our Executive Director. “We have some sponsorship spots still available as well. We are a charity for charities and the funds we raise help children and families in our community.”
“Our generous donors enable us to grow our Smart & Caring fund, which will continue to benefit charitable organizations in our community now, and forever,” says Janzen.
